I'll have to get creative in new and exciting ways. So the billion dollar question is: Is there an ASMedia 106x series firmware upgrade available which supports UEFI? Boogling it says nope, but I learned that some motherboards use this controller so I'm hoping that someone has had some experience with this.Īlternatively I'd like to learn about other eSata controller cards with port replication features which natively support UEFI, but if no such beast exists. Alternatively replacement firmware would be better, sicen I don't want to buy more crap. Further, installing the ASMedia drivers enmabled Windows to see everything.īut I'd like to get as much of this working before bootup as possible, and that means I'll probably need a UEFI compatible card. Luckily Windows 10 is good at catching weird old hardware and forcing it to live in harmony with new hardware. The controller has a BIOS module and does not natively support UEFI, and so the drives are not available at boot time, and since I'm a big jerk I don't want to enable the CSM / legacy boot options. I also boot in a native UEFI environment. I could have used USB, but I wanted tighter hardware integration to the harddrives inside that box so I could run cool tools with it. Graphics Output Options: D-Sub, DVI-D and HDMI. I have an external HDD enclosure that supports port replication - simply put, a box I can stuff many harddrives into and use ESATA to connect to it. ASRock DuraCap (2.5 x longer life time), 100 Japan made high quality conductive polymer capacitors.
